Griffins Have Multiple Top Five Finishes at RMU

The Seton Hil track and field teams competed at the RMU Benson/Hodge Memorial Invitational in Moon Township on Friday and Saturday.

The teams combined for multiple top five finishes on the track and in the field.  The teams combined for twelve first place finishes.  

On the women's side, Sarah Gilliam and Blair Harris each had two top five finishes.  Gilliam was third in the hammer (46.16m) and fourth in the shot (11.85m).  Harris was fourth in the hammer (44.18m) and fifth in the shot (11.79m).  

Alex Martin led the men's side with three top two finishes, including two first place finishes.  He was first in the hammer (51.38m), first in the shot (14.59m) and second in the discus (41.25m). 

Many Griffins had two top five finishes including Cameron Sapola, Jaden Lopez, Samuel Hartman, Ben Hartman, Hunter Martin, Jameson Kutz, Andrew Campbell, John Giansante, Zane Baughman, Noah Flaherty and Zakharee Williams.  

Sapola was first in the javelin (51.58m) and third in the hammer (34.73m).  Lopez was second in the hammer (42.78m) and fifth in the javelin (43.79m).  Samuel Hartman was first in the 400 hurdles (51.99) and first in the 110 hurdles (14.31).  Ben Hartman was third in the 110 hurdles (15.56) and fifth in the 400 hurdles (59.41).  Martin was first in the long jump (7.00m) and second in the triple jump (13.93m).  Kutz was second in the long jump (6.45m) and third in the triple jump (13.67m).  Campbell was second in the 100 (11.23) and fourth in the long jump (6.26m).  Giansante was fourth in the triple jump (13.06m) and fifth in the long jump (6.24m).  Baughman was second in the shot put (13.57m) and fifth in the discus (34.68m).  Flaherty was third in the 800 (1:58.40) and third in the 400 (50.88).  Williams was second in the 400 (49.66) and second in the 200 (22.27).  

Other top five finishes for the Griffin women were Jessica McCann who was fifth in the javelin, Samantha Gravatt who won the javelin and Alyssa Scalia who was fifth in the javelin.  Alyson Taylor was first in the 400 hurdles and Anna Roberts was third.  Alexis Cunningham was second in the steeple while Isabelle McCabe was fifth in the 5K.  Keelin Becker was fourth in the triple jump and Ainsley Plumadore was fourth in the 400.  Sydney Wolf was second in the 800 and Darby Roth was third.  

On the men's side, Logan Lindenmuth was third in the javelin.  Gabriel McConville won the 1500.  Brayden Henninger was first in the steeple while Nadeem Al-Okla was second and Greg Overbeck third.  Max Yonko won the discus.  Andrew Smith was fourth in the 400 while Nathan Huff was fifth.  Joseph Piper was first in the 100.

SHU will head to the Ashland Alumni Open and the WVU Mountaineer Twilight next weekend.
