Seton Hill closed out their four game PSAC West set with a home doubleheader with Clarion on Sunday afternoon in Greensburg. Clarion was the home team in the doubleheader.
Seton Hill won game one by a 7-2 score. Clarion salvaged one game from the four game set with a 4-3 win in game two. SHU is now 22-7-1 on the season and 9-3 in the PSAC West.
The Griffins scored three times in the top of the third inning to take a 3-0 lead. With one out,
Braden Durham doubled to center field. After a fly out,
Vincenzo Rauso singled up the middle to score Durham and give SHU a 1-0 lead.
Jack Oberdorf then followed with a homer to left center field that put the Griffins in front 3-0.
Clarion got one run back in the bottom half of the inning to cut the Griffins lead to 3-1.
Seton Hill increased their lead back to three in the fifth inning. Rauso led off the inning with a single and later scored when
Jayden Starks singled through the right side. The Griffins added another run in the seventh on a RBI ground out from
Noah Sweeney.
Oberdorf led the Griffins with three hits, including two homers and four RBIs. Rauso added two hits and an RBI.
Brandon Bergert earned the win with four innings of work. He gave up one hit and struck out six.
Clarion took advantage of a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first of game two and took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins. The Golden Eagles added another run in the fourth inning to make it 2-0.
The Griffins cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth inning on a solo homer from
Braden Durham. SHU tied the game at two on a solo blast from
Brett Morris in the top of the sixth inning.
The Golden Eagles scores two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 4-2 lead over the Griffins.
SHU got a leadoff infield single from
Tanner Froehlich to lead off the seventh inning. Pinch runner Sweeney stole second and scored on a Rauso single. A line out to right field ended the game.
Durham and Morris each homered in the loss.
The Griffins are scheduled to travel to Frostburg State on Tuesday for a non conference matchup.
