Box Score After a day off on Tuesday, the Griffins returned to action on Wednesday afternoon in Lakeland, FL against Florida Southern.
After Seton Hill tied the game at three in the top of the eighth inning, the Mocs scored the game winning run in the bottom half of the inning for a 4-3 win over the Griffins. SHU falls to 6-3 while the Mocs improve to 11-9.
The Griffins got on the board first in the top of the first inning.
Braden Durham led off with a single and stole second. He later scored on a
Vincenzo Rauso single to give SHU a 1-0 lead.
Florida Southern got a two run homer in the bottom half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.
With two outs in the second,
Drew Garth homered to left center field to tie the score at two. The Mocs used a controversial non interference call to score a run in the bottom of the second inning to take a 3-2 lead.
The Griffins tied the score at three in a wild top of the eighth inning. Durham reached on an error to lead off the inning then stole second. He moved to third on an
Owen Sabol single. Rauso was called out for batters interference for squaring around to bunt on a steal attempt.
Neal McDermott then reached on a fielders choice to score Durham and tie the game at three.
The Mocs got that run right back with a single, sacrifice bunt, intentional walk and two out RBI single as they took a 4-3 lead.
Garth led the Griffins with two hits including a homer. Both McDermott and Rauso each drove in a run.
The Griffins will meet Minnesota State Mankato on Thursday afternoon.
