Track Teams Compete at CMU Invitational

The Seton Hill track and field teams competed at the two day Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday afternoon and Saturday in Pittsburgh, PA.

The teams combined for ten top eight finishes on Friday before combining for twenty top eight finishes on Saturday.

Hannah Smrcka led the teams on Friday night with a second place finish in the 5K with a time of 17:40.26.  Alex Martin and Sarah Gilliam each had two top 8 finishes.  Martin was fourth in the shot put (14.71m) and fifth in the hammer (46.01m).  Gilliam was fifth in the hammer (46.42m) and seventh in the shot put (11.75m).  

Sydney Wolf was third in the 1500 (4:43.91) while Darby Roth finished seventh in the event (4:49.98).  Gabriel McConville placed fourth in the 1500 with a time of 4:03.88.  Jessica McCann was sixth in the javelin with a toss of 44.24 meters and Zane Baughman was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 13.98 meters.  

On Saturday, Samuel Hartman led the Griffins with a pair of first place finishes. He won the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.72 and then won the 400 hurdles with a time of 53.22.  

Hunter Martin, Zakharee Williams and Joseph Piper each had two top 8 finishes on Saturday.  Martin was second in the long jump with a leap of 6.69 meters and fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.39 meters.  Williams was fifth in two different events, the 200 (22.84) and 400 (51.98).  Joseph Piper placed third in the 200 (22.69) and fifth in the 100 (11.49).  

The women had two second place finished from Anna Roberts and Ainsley Plumadore.  Roberts was second in the 400 hurdles (1:10.84) and Plumadore was second in the 200 (27.96).  They got third place finishes from Elyssa Pemu and Keelin Becker.  Pemu was third in the high jump clearing 1.53 meters and Becker jumped 10.17 meters in the triple jump.  

Nicholas Seto was third in the long jump with a leap of 6.52 meters and John Giansante was third in the triple jump with a leap of 13.41 meters.  Andrew Campbell was sixth in the 100 (11.65), Ben Hartman was sixth in the 110 hurdles (16.35) while Jameson Kutz was seventh in the triple jump (12.98m).  Anthony Sacco was eighth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.82.  

Haley Brenny was fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:13.98 and Alyson Taylor was eighth with a time of 1:16.43.

The Griffins will take part in the Dave Labor Invitational next weekend.
