Softball Sweeps Pair from Davis & Elkins

The Griffins continued with non conference action on Tuesday afternoon as they hosted Mountain East foe Davis & Elkins for a doubleheader.
 
Seton Hill kept the Senators off the scoreboard in both games in route to a sweep of Davis & Elkins.  SHU won game 1 by a 9-0 score in five innings then took game two by a 7-0 score.  SHU improves to 16-3 overall. 
 
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.  Morgan Toal walked and stole second and third then scored on a Nina Grandey sacrifice fly. 
 
SHU added four more runs in the third inning.  With one out Mackenzie Zang drew a walk.  She moved to second on a wild pitch and then advanced to third on a Nichole McClendon single.  Zang scored on an errant throw and then Jenna Osikowicz singled to knock in McClendon.  Later in the inning Toal doubled to left center field to score Osikowicz.  Grace Paredes knocked in Toal to make it 5-0. 
 
Seton Hill continued to add on in the fourth.  They scored four times after two outs.  Osikowicz drove in two with a triple and later scored on a wild pitch.  Toal added an RBI single to make it 9-0. 
 
Chloe Elliott improved to 4-1 with a complete game three hitter.  She struck out ten and did not walk a hitter.  McClendon went 3-3 in the win.  Osikowicz added two hits and three RBI.  Toal added two hits and two RBI.
 
SHU continued that momentum in game two.  McClendon and Osikowicz singled to lead off the game.  Morgan Ryan then hit a two run homer over the right field wall to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead.  Later in the inning, Brooke Cleland doubled in Brooklyn Fukushima who walked to give SHU a 3-0 lead. 
 
The Griffins added on in the second inning.  With an out, Grandey drew a walk.  She scored on a Osikowicz single.  Ryan then drew a walk and Toal drove in two with a double to the left center field gap that gave SHU a 6-0 lead. 
 
Shayleigh Gulvas added an RBI single in the fourth to increase the SHU lead to 7-0. 
 
Ryan improved to 5-1 on the season with the win in the circle.  She went six innings, giving up just one hit while striking out 11.  Osikowicz had three hits.  Toal added two. 
 
SHU will travel to Shippensburg this weekend for a four game set.
