Griffins Close Season with Loss at Edinboro

Seton Hill traveled to Edinboro to close out their 2021-22 season. The Griffins led for a good portion of the first half, but the Scots used a big run to take the lead into halftime and continued pulling away in the second half for a 90-74 victory.

The first half saw several swings back and forth between the teams. The score was even at 4-4 early before Edinboro scored nine of the next 12 points to take a 13-7 advantage. Seton Hill answered back with 10 straight points and a 15-2 run that saw four different players score. Following baskets by Sean Dillon, Ryan Meis and Miles Monchecourt, Drew Green hit two free throws and then a lay-up. After a Scots basket, Meis hit a three and two foul free throws to extend the Griffins lead to 22-15.

The lead was still seven at 28-21 following a Jaylen Stewart score with 6:46 left and Aaron Celcis knocked down a jumper for a 30-25 SHU lead with five minutes left. But then the Griffins went cold and Edinboro rallied back, rolling off 10 straight points to take a 30-25 lead into halftime.

Seton Hill kept within five points early in the second half thanks to Dillon, who scored seven in a row to match the Scots, and it was a 44-39 EU lead with four minutes gone in the second half. Edinboro then started to pull away, using a 14-4 run over the five minutes to extend their lead to 58-43. A bucket by Samuel Tabe and another three from Dillon kept the margin at 15, but the Scots would keep pulling away, as they shot 55 percent in the second half.

Leading the Griffins in scoring was Meis, who dropped in 19 points before he fouled out. Hitting for 14 points each was Monchecourt and Dillon and Monchecourt led the efforts on the boards with eight.
