12/27/2022 4:09:00 PM

Seton Hill senior linebacker Jaylen McDuffie was named a finalist for the 2022 Cliff Harris Award on Tuesday afternoon.  The Cliff Harris Award is presented annually to the small college defensive player of the year.

Any defensive player from Division II, Division III or the NAIA is eligible for the award.  There were 172 athletes nominated for the award from the three divisions and McDuffie was one of the 68 finalist for the award.  There were 26 players named finalists from Division II and 21 players each from Division III and the NAIA.

The winner of the award will be named on December 30th and will be honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's annual award banquet in January.

Being named a finalist for the Harris Award is just another award for McDuffie following a spectacular senior season.  He was most recently named an All American by the D2CCA.  McDuffie was also a first team All PSAC West selection in addition to being named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year.

McDuffie led the Griffin defense with 118 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.  He also led the Griffins with 69 assisted tackles and eight QB hurries.  His 118 tackles were third in the PSAC.  Jaylen led the PSAC in tackles for loss and sacks.  He also now holds the Seton Hill career record for tackles with 363.
