Seton Hill hosted Slippery Rock in PSAC West action on a rainy Saturday afternoon looking to extend its winning streak to four games.
Slippery Rock scored a goal in the first half and was able to hang on despite a late push from the Griffins for a 1-0 win. SHU falls to 6-2-3 overall and 4-2-3 in the west while the Rock improves to 4-2-5 overall and 3-2-4 in the west. Â
The Rock took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the 16th minute. They scored on a rebound off a Griffin save to take the lead. Slippery Rock held an 8-3 advantage in shots in the half. SHU held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.Â
Grace Kenyon made three saves in the first half. Â
The Griffins made a late push in the second half, with five shots in the final 20 minutes of the contest but they could not find the back of the net for the game tying goal.
The Rock outshot the Griffins 12-8 in the contest. SRU had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Alexia Garia led the Griffins with three shots. Kenyon finished with five saves in net.
SHU will travel to Clarion for a PSAC West matchup on Wednesday evening. Â
