Baseball Ninth in NCBWA Preseason Top 25

After reaching the NCAA Division II Baseball National Championships last season, the Griffin baseball team begins the 2022 season ninth in National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) NCAA Division II Preseason Poll.  Last season the Griffins earned their second trip to the NCAA Baseball National Championships after defeating Millersville in the NCAA Atlantic Regional.  The Griffins finished the season with a 39-8 overall record after sweeping thru the Atlantic Regional.  Seton Hill defeated Southern New Hampshire in the first round of the NCAA Championships before dropping two straight to be eliminated from the tourney.

The University of Tampa earned seven of the 19 first place votes to top the poll.  Defending national champion Wingate earned ten first place votes and was second in the poll.  Central Missouri and Colorado Mesa each earned a first place vote as were third and fourth.  Angelo State rounded out the top five.  Other Atlantic Regional teams in the poll include Millersville at #17.  Both Mercyhurst and Charleston (WV) are receiving votes.  

The Griffins will meet three teams this season in the preseason top 25.  SHU will take on #1 Tampa and #23 Minnesota State during their spring trip in Florida.  SHU will also take on #17 Millersville in Altoona in early April.  

Seton Hill will open the 2022 season with a three game set in Gaffney, SC against Limestone on February 19 and 20.  SHU will then host Walsh the following weekend for a three game set.  Seton Hill will travel to Florida for their spring trip from March 5th - 12th.  PSAC West play begins the weekend of March 25-26 with a four game set with Pitt Johnstown.  The Griffins and Mercyhurst meet in a  four game set the weekend of April 29-30.  SHU closes out PSAC West play against California (PA) the weekend of May 6 and 7.  The PSAC Tournament will be played in Slippery Rock with the NCAA Atlantic Regionals and Super Regionals to follow in mid to late May.  The 2022 NCAA Baseball Championships will be in Cary, NC from June 4th - 11th.
