Track and Field Teams Compete at Marietta Invitational

The Griffin track and field teams returned to the track at the Marietta Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Marietta, OH.

The teams had a very successful day with many top performances.  The men's team finished with six first place finishes and 31 top 8 finishes.  The women added five first place finishes and 23 top 8 finishes. 

The first place finishes for the men included Alex Martin in the short put with a toss of 14.54 meters. Hunter Martin won both the long jump and the triple jump.  He won the long jump with a mark of 6.99 meters and the triple jump with a mark of 13.77 meters.  Gabriel McConville won the mile run with a time of 4:33.76.  Joseph Piper won the 55 dash in a time of 6.59 and Zakharee Williams won the 400 in a time of 52.38.  

McConville was also third in the 800 in a time of 2:00.57.  Piper finished second in the 200 (22.76) and Williams was third (23.24).  

Sarah Gilliam was first in the shot put with a toss of 11.71 meters.  Alyson Taylor placed first in the 300 with a time of 43.45.  Sydney Wolf won the mile run in a time of 5:27.45.  Darby Roth won the 800 run in a time of 2:23.42 and Hannah Smrcka won the 3K in a time of 10:28.14.  

Gilliam also was second in the weight throw with a throw of 14.58 meters.  Taylor was fifth in the 200 with a time of 27.94.  

Max Yonko was one of a few guys with multiple top 8 finishes.  He was 5th in the shot put (12.75 meters) and 8th in the weight throw (11.82 meters).  John Giansante was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 6.30 meters and seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 12.63 meters.  Andrew Campbell was sixth in the triple jump (12.67 meters) and eighth in the 55 (6.75).  Anthony Sacco was eighth in the pole vault, clearing 3.20 meters, and 6th in the 55 hurdles (8.31).  Ben Kissel was seventh in the pole vault, clearing 3.35 meters and 8th in the 1000 (3:01.63).  Donavin Meriweather was second in the 800 with a time of 2:00.42 and fourth in the mile with a time of 4:43.82.  Al Lindstrom was fifth in the 3K (9:45.15) and eighth in the mile (4:49.76).  

Other top eight finishers for the men included Jameson Kutz who was third in the triple jump with a leap of 13.22 meters.  Ben Hartman was eighth with a jump of 12.53 meters.  Jake VanArsdale was third in the 300 (38.91) and Bryce Meriweather was sixth (40.32).  Noah Flaherty was fourth in the 800 (2:01.13) and Andrew Smith was seventh (2:03.10).  Jack Hatch was sixth in the mile (4:48.22).  Jaden Lopez was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 12.48 meters.  

Three other women had multiple top eight finishes.  Blair Harris was third in both the shot put and weight throw.  She had a mark of 11.58 meters in the shot and 14.26 meters in the weight throw.  Ainsley Plumadore was second in the 300 (45.30) and fourth in the 200 (27.76).  Isabella Myles was third in the 800 in a time of 2:31.42 and fourth in the mile in a time of 5:36.85.  

Lauren Ritenour was fifth in the pole vault, clearing 2.90 meters while Teresa Kondas was eighth, clearing 2.30 meters.  Isabelle McCabe was second in the 5K (19:28.27) and Julia Lersch was fourth (20:21.15).  Alexis Cunningham added a second place finish in the mile (5:28.94).  Anna Roberts was seventh in the 55 (7.83).  Allison Pittman was fourth in the 800 (2:34.78), Anessa Pigula was fifth (2:36.84), Kate Pipilo was sixth (2:39.21) and Jordan Fairman was seventh (2:40.11).  

The teams will head to the YSU Mid Major next weekend at Youngstown State.
