Seton Hill began their 2021 season with a non conference home matchup with Frostburg State on Thursday afternoon. The Griffins scored goals im the second and fourth periods in route to a 2-1 win over the Bobcats.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first quarter as Frostburg held a 2-0 advantage in shots in the quarter.
Just under five minutes into the second quarter the Griffins were able to score off a penalty corner.
Haley Brenny fired a shot off the keeper's pads and
Jade Taylor was there on the spot to secure the rebound and put it into the cage to give the Griffins a 1-0 advantage. The Griffins were able to take that 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Emma Jorgensen recorded a save in one half of action. FSU held a 3-2 advantage in shots in the quarter. Each team had one penalty corner.
The third period belonged to Frostburg as they tied the score with a goal and outshot the Griffins by an 8-0 margin.
Shannon Mccormac was strong in net for the Griffins, making four saves to keep the game tied at one after three periods of action.
It did not take the Griffins long to score in the fourth quarter. Just 3:44 into the quarter, the Griffins took the lead for good. Brenny took a pass from
Sarah Morgan and deposited it into the side of the cage to give SHU a 2-1 lead. Mccormac made a save with just over a minute to play to preserve the win.
Brenny finished with a goal and assist in the win. Mccormac earned the win in cage with five saves.
SHU returns to action on Saturday when they'll take on Lindenwood at IUP.
