7/8/2021 2:30:00 PM

Seton Hill infielder Tommy Pellis continues to earn awards for his play on the field and his work in the classroom as he was named a PSAC Winter/Spring Top 12 Award recipient.  It is the second consecutive season that Pellis has earned a Spring Top 10/12 Award.  He joins Samuel Hartman (20-21 Winter/Spring), Nathan Davis (18-19 Winter, 19-20 Winter), Viktoria Farian (2019 Fall), Kaitlyn Germanoski (2017-18 Winter), Noah Davis (2016-17 Winter), Joe Smith (2016 Fall), Mallory Sanner (2015 Spring) and Tyler Zimmer (2013 Fall) who all received the award.

The Top 10 Awards, selected by the PSAC's sports information directors, recognize student-athletes who distinguish themselves in the classroom, as well as in the arena of competition. The conference designates Top 10 Award winners after each of the sports seasons: fall, winter and spring.  To be a candidate for the Top 10 Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.  The PSAC Top 10 Awards were initiated in 1997.

Pellis, who graduated with a 3.86 GPA in Business Administration and now carries a 3.78 GPA in the MBA program, Pellis led the Griffins in a few offensive categories and was second in a few more, helping the Griffins to a PSAC Western Division title and second NCAA Atlantic Regional title.  He led the Griffins with a .361 average.  Tommy also led the Griffins with 55 runs scored and 56 hits.  Pellis also added eight doubles, a triple, 14 home runs and 42 RBI.

This season, Pellis was named the ABCA/D2CCA and NCBWA Atlantic Regional Player of the Year in addition to being first team All Region on the three regional teams.  He was also named an All American honorable mention by the NCBWA.  Tommy was also named the PSAC West Athlete of the Year and was a First Team All PSAC West honoree.  Pellis also earned CoSIDA Academic All District honors for the second consecutive season.
