Just a little over a week after earning the PSAC Top Team GPA award, the Seton Hill baseball program picked up another academic award on Thursday afternoon. This one is from the American Baseball Coaches Association as the Griffins were named an ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award recipient. This is the sixth straight season the Griffins have earned the award from the ABCA. Seton Hill and Bloomsburg were the only two school from the PSAC to earn the award.
The 2020-21 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award is an award which honors high school and college programs that posted a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the academic year. Over 580 high school and college programs were recognized with the award.
Teams from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, junior college and high school were honored.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/Diamond Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
