Baseball Earns PSAC Top Team GPA Award

7/22/2021 4:17:00 PM

After winning an NCAA Atlantic Regional title and advancing to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championships this spring, the Griffin baseball team also proved that they are the best in the classroom as well on Thursday afternoon.  The baseball team earned the Top Team GPA Award from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for their performance in the classroom during the 2020-2021 school year, PSAC Commissioner Steve Murray announced.

The Griffin baseball team finished with a 3.413 GPA to take home the Top Team GPA Award.  This is the fourth consecutive time the baseball program has won the award from the PSAC.  The team has also won the award in six of the last seven seasons.

Overall, Seton Hill student athletes finished with a 3.407 GPA.  That was the sixth best mark in the league.  Seton Hill had earned the Top Team GPA award overall five times since joining the league.

The awards, released at the conclusion of the academic year, honor the teams with the top cumulative team grade point average in each of the sponsored sports within the PSAC. The league hosts 23 championships, however, for the award purposes, indoor and outdoor track and field are counted as a single sport.

Four Seton Hill teams finished with the second best GPA in their sport.  They included women's basketball (3.762), volleyball (3.667), men's basketball (3.325) and wrestling (3.118).
