The Seton Hill baseball programs continues to be awarded for their spectacular season as three members of the team were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division II All Region Teams.
Graduate student
Tommy Pellis earned his third regional player of the year award as he was named the ABCA/Rawlings Atlantic Regional Player of the Year. Pellis was also named the NCBWA and D2CCA Atlantic Regional Player of the Year. Â
Pellis was a first team selection as an outfielder as well. The Griffins took up two of the three outfield spots on the first team as senior
Derek Orndorff was also named to the first team. Senior starter
Ben Vicini was named to the second team. Â
Pellis was a first team selection on the NCBWA and D2CCA All Region Teams as well. Orndorff was a first team D2CCA All Region selection and a second team NCBWA All Region selection. Vicini was a second team D2CCA All Region selection. Both Pellis and Orndorff were first team All PSAC West selections while Vicini was a second team All PSAC West selection. Â
Pellis leads the Griffins in nearly every offensive category. He is hitting .371 with 53 runs scored and 53 hits. Tommy is tied for the team lead with 42 RBI and he is second with 14 home runs. Orndorff is second on the team with a .367 average. He leads the team lead with 15 homers and is tied with 42 RBI. Derek has added six doubles and two triples.  Vicini is 6-1 as a starter with a 4.12 ERA. He has struck out 67 in 54.2 innings while walking just nine.Â
The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America Committee.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region first-team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Americans will be announced the evening of Friday, June 4. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced Wednesday, June 23.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 11,000 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth. The 76th annual ABCA Convention will be held Jan. 2-5, 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee.
