Griffins Ready for NCAA Atlantic Regional

5/25/2021 2:15:00 PM

After missing the regional in 2019 and last season, the Griffins make a return to NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional play when the regional begins on Thursday.  The Griffins will look to book their trip to Cary and the NCAA Division II Baseball Championships as they will take part in the NCAA Atlantic Regional that will begin this Thursday at the Welch Athletic Complex in Charleston, WV.  Seton Hill will open up play on Thursday evening at 7 PM when they meet the winner of the day's first game between Bloomsburg and the host Charleston.

The Griffins and Bloomsburg just met this past weekend with the Huskies winning two of the three contests from the Griffins to earn the PSAC Championship.  Seton Hill and Charleston have not met this season.

The other two teams in the tournament include MEC Champion WV State and Millersville.  The Griffins and WV State have not met this season but the Griffins did take a single game from Millersville by the score of 13-6 in the middle of March earlier this season.

Seton Hill and Millersville have met seven times in NCAA regionals with the Griffins having a 4-3 lead in wins.  The last meeting was in the 2018 Atlantic Regional where the Griffins won by a 5-0 score in West Lawn, PA at Owls Field.  The Griffins also have played Charleston in an NCAA regional with the Griffins earning a 9-0 win in that same 2018 Atlantic Regional.

The University of Charleston has set up a NCAA Atlantic Regional Central Page with information for the tournament.  The page includes schedules, links for live stats and video along with parking and spectator info.  The cost of admission for each contest is $5 and the site will be cleared of fans after each contest.  All spectators will receive a temperature check and must complete a COVID questionnaire prior to entering.
