Game Recap: Baseball |

Kollar, McGraw and Sabol Lead Griffins to PSAC Semifinal

Seton Hill hosted Gannon in the PSAC Quarterfinal round in the first home baseball game on the hill in nearly fifteen years.

The Griffins made the return to home playoff baseball a memorable one as two pitchers held the Knights to just two hits and the Griffin bats pounded out 11 hits in a 6-0 win.  SHU improves to 32-4 on the season while the Knights end their season at 18-17.

Both starting pitchers put up zeros over the first two innings.  The Griffins broke through in the third.  Jack Oberdorf drew a leadoff walk and scored on a one out triple from Owen Sabol.  Seton Hill increased their lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning on a leadoff homer from Isaiah DiAndreth.

SHU opened the game up in the sixth inning.  Vincenzo Rauso reached on an error to open the inning and Tanner Froehlich doubled to put runners on second and third with no one out.  Jordan Fiedor singled to knock in both runners to put the Griffins in front 4-0.  The next hitter Oberdorf, launched the first pitch he saw over the right center field wall for a two run homer to extend the Griffins lead to 6-0.

That was all the Griffin pitching staff would need as two pitchers held the Gannon bats in check.

Jared Kollar earned the win by going six scoreless innings.  He gave up just two hits and struck out eight while walking none.  Marshall McGraw threw three perfect innings of relief to earn the save.  He struck out two and walked none.

Sabol led the offense with four hits.  Fiedor added two.  Fiedor and Oberdorf each drove in two runs.

SHU will next meet Mercyhurst in the best of three PSAC Semifinals.  Game one is set for Sunday afternoon at noon with game two to follow.  Game three would be played Monday at noon.
