Griffins Open Indoor Track Season at Mount Union

The Seton Hill track and field teams began their 2021-22 indoor track and field seasons in Alliance, Ohio at the Mount Union Toy Drive Invitational.

The teams combined for 14 PSAC qualifying marks in the first event of the indoor season.  The men finished with nine PSAC qualifying marks while the women's team added five.  The men had three first place finishes while the women added three first place finishes as well.  

Leading the way for the women's team was Sydney Wolf who had two first place finishes where she hit PSAC qualifying marks.  Wolf won the 3K in a time of 10:41.09 and then won the 5K in a time of 18:56.24.  Keelin Becker also had a first place finish on the women's side in the triple jump.  She won the triple jump with a leap of 10.20 meters.  

Seton Hill had two PSAC qualifying marks in the shot put.  Sarah Gilliam was fourth with a throw of 12.28 meters.  Blair Harris was fifth with a toss of 12.25 meters.  Gilliam also hit a PSAC qualifying mark in the weight throw with a toss of 14.85 meters.  

The Griffins had the top four runners in the 5K.  Behind Wolf was Alexis Cunningham with a time of 19:13.21.  Darby Roth was third with a time of 19:26.56 and Isabella Myles was fourth in a time of 20:06.93.  Isabelle McCabe was second in the 3K with a time of 11:04.62.  Jensen Scamardi was fifth in the 60 hurdles in a time of 10.04.  Lauren Rittenour tied for third in the pole vault, clearing 3.07 meters.  

Samuel Hartman continued to excel with another first place finish and PSAC qualifying mark in the 60 hurdles.  He ran a time of 8.26 seconds.  Other first place finishes for the men included Alexander Hogue in the 3K (9:32.90) and Hunter Martin in the long jump (7.02 meters).  Martin's mark qualified for the PSAC Championships.  Martin also hit a PSAC qualifying mark in the triple jump with a leap of 14.11 meters.    Hogue was also second in the 1K (2:56.14).  

SHU had two more PSAC qualifiers in the 60 hurdles.  Sven Rabsahl was fifth with a time of 8.66 while Ben Hartman was sixth in a time of 8.78.  Rabsahl also hit a mark in the high jump with a leap of 1.85 meters.  Alex Martin was third in the shot put with a PSAC qualifying time of 15.06 meters.  The Griffins had two more PSAC qualifiers in the 60 meter dash.  Andrew Campbell was fifth (7.08) and Joseph Piper was sixth (7.09).  Piper was second in the 200 (22.73).  

Other top five finishers for the Griffins were Zakharee Williams who was fourth in the 400 (52.38), Ben Hartman who was third in the triple jump (12.99m), Andrew Campbell who was fourth in the triple jump (12.95m) and Jameson Kutz who was fifth in the triple (12.78m).

The teams will compete in the YSU Collegiate Holiday Classic next Friday at Youngstown State.
