Seton Hill traveled to East Stroudsburg Friday to open PSAC play in a Crossover match-up and despite career-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds from
Miles Monchecourt, the Griffins fell by a 91-63 count to the Warriors.
After ESU scored the opening bucket,
Samuel Tabe knocked down a three to give the Griffins an early lead. The Warriors tallied the next five points and continued to pull away through the first half. The home team shot 55 percent in the opening half in building a 47-29 lead at the break. Seton Hill, who battled foul trouble throughout the game, was led by Monchecourt with eight markers in the opening half.
The Griffins would shoot better in the second half, knocking down 47 percent of their attempts from the floor (15-32), but were unable to cut into the ESU advantage after halftime. The fouls continued to mount for Seton Hill through the contest, as the Warriors ended the night with a 24-5 scoring advantage from the foul line.Â
A big highlight in the game was Monchecourt, who stepped outside to hit 4-of-5 from the arc as part of a 7-for-12 shooting performance in racking up his career-high 18 points. Also totaling double digits were Tabe and
Drew Green with 11 markers each. Monchecourt was also the team-leader with eight boards in the contest, while
Jaylen Stewart handed out four assists and Green and
Sean Dillon had two steals apiece.
The Griffins get right back on the floor tomorrow night with another PSAC Crossover game, as they play at Kutztown. Tip-off against the Bears is slated for 7:30 pm.
