Nine members of the Seton Hill wrestling program took part in the Midwest Classic hosted by UIndy this weekend with the first day of competition on Saturday.  

After one day of competition, Joel Cawoski is the one Griffin remaining as competition heads to day two. 

Cawoski opened with a loss in the championship round at 141 pounds.  Joel then advanced in the consolation round with three straight wins.  He opened with a win by fall (4:35) before earning two wins by decision to remain alive in the tournament.  

Five Griffins opened the tournament with wins in the first round matches.  Frank Bonura won by tech fall (18-2) at 125 pounds.  William Burgess opened with a 4-2 decision at 133 pounds.  Colby Romjue, Luke Ewing and Brandon Matthews each won their opening match by fall.  Romjue won at 165 pounds (5:19), Ewing at 174 pounds (5:32) and Matthews at 184 pounds (2:42).  All four but Ewing then lost their two matches to be eliminated from the tournament.  Ewing won one of his consolation round matches.  

Logan McKoy dropped his first match before winning two matches in the consolation round.  He was then eliminated in the consolation round.  Brandon Finnerty and John Meyers each went 0-2 in the tournament.
