The Griffin women's basketball team continued PSAC Crossover action on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Millersville. SHU outscored the Marauders by a 36-12 margin in the second and third quarters of the contest as they improved to 3-1 in PSAC action with a 66-43 win. SHU is now 8-4 overall while Millersville drops to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in PSAC play.
Millersville jumped out to an 8-4 lead midway through the first quarter. They extended their lead to six before
Rena Enterline hit the first Griffin three of the contest. The Marauders built their lead to 14-7 before five straight points from
Christiane Frye got the Griffins back to within two at 16-14 after one quarter of play.
The Marauders scored the first six points of the second quarter as they built their lead to 22-14. That would be the final points the Marauders scored in the quarter. Four straight points from Frye cut the lead in half midway through the quarter. Back to back three pointers from
Courtney Tomas and
Samantha Kosmacki put the Griffins in front 25-22 with just under two minutes to play in the half.
Katie Nolan added a basket and Frye ended the half with a three as the Griffins took a 30-22 lead into the halftime break.
Kosmacki opened the second half with a basket and Nolan followed with a three pointer to extend the lead to 35-22. After a Marauder basket, the Griffins answered with an 11-0 to extend the lead to 46-24 with 4:32 to play in the quarter. SHU took a 50-28 lead into the fourth quarter.
Teresa Haigh opened the fourth quarter by hitting a three pointer. Three pointers from
Madelyn Fischer and
Maddy Moore pushed the lead to 59-31 with 7:22 to play in the quarter.
Seton Hill shot 46% (11-24) from three point land and 15-21 from the free throw line. SHU forced 29 turnovers and outrebounded the Marauders by a 40-36 margin.
Frye led the Griffins with 16 points. She added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Nolan also reached double figures with 11 points. She also added six rebounds.
SHU will continue PSAC Crossover action on Sunday afternoon when they host Shepherd.
