Griffins Close Out Fall Semester at Youngstown State

The Seton Hill track and field teams closed out their fall season at the Youngstown State Holiday Classic this weekend at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.

The teams added an NCAA Provisional Qualifier, four new PSAC qualifying marks and eleven top eight finishes at the meet. 

Pacing the Griffins was an NCAA Provisional mark from Samuel Hartman in the 60 meter hurdles.  Hartman finished third in the 60H finals in an NCAA provo mark of 8.11 seconds.  

On the women's side, Sydney Wolf continued her momentum off a spectacular cross country season with a second place finish in the mile run.  She hit a PSAC Qualifying mark with a time of 5;05.68.  Sarah Gilliam finished fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.68 meters.  That was her best throw so far early in the season.  

The men had three top eight finishes in the triple jump.  Hunter Martin finished third with a leap of 13.96 meters.  Andrew Campbell hit a PSAC qualifying mark with a jump of 13.24 meters for a fifth place finish.  Jameson Kutz also hit a new PSAC Qualifying mark with a jump of 13.10 meters, good for seventh place.  Martin was also fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.95 meters.  

Martin was also a part of the Griffins 4x4 relay team that finished second overall with the best time so far in the PSAC this season of 3:20.47.  Hartman, Joseph Piper and Zakharee Williams were also a part of the relay team.  

Piper was fifth in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.35 seconds.  Alex Martin had the final new PSAC Qualifying mark with a throw of 15.55 meters in the weight throw.  Noah Flaherty finished seventh in the 400 with a time of 51.20 seconds.  

The teams will now take part in the Spire Midwest Indoor Open on January 21st and 22nd.
