Griffins Drop Senior Day Matchup with IUP

Seton Hill honored fourteen members of its football team for Senior Day before their matchup with Indiana (PA) on Saturday afternoon at Offutt Field.  The Crimson Hawks scored points in each quarter as they defeated the Griffins by a 38-3 score.  IUP improves to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the west while the Griffins drop to 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the west.

After the Griffins won the toss and deferred, IUP needed just five plays to move 75 yards to take a quick 7-0 lead on a three yard touchdown pass.  Seton Hill then went three and out on their first drive and the Crimson Hawks took a 14-0 lead on a 21 yard touchdown pass with 4:54 to play in the first quarter.  IUP led 14-0 after one quarter of action.

Damonte Pratt picked off a pass in the end zone to stop the first IUP drive of the second quarter.  Jake McCormick then found Taro Gaither for a 47 yard pass to move to the IUP 33.  The SHU drive stalled out on the IUP 30 yard line.  Two plays later, IUP increased their lead to 21-0 with an 85 yard touchdown pass with 9:41 to play in the half.  SHU then drove 68 yards on 19 plays, the final one a 24 yard field goal from Luke Hauger that trimmed the lead to 21-3 with 1:07 to play in the half.

IUP took advantage of a short field on their first drive of the second half as they scored from 8 yards out to increase their lead to 28-3 early in the third quarter.  The teams then exchanged fumbles with Jaylen McDuffie forcing a fumble and Jaden Mack recovering the fumble.  Neither team was able to score in the final portion of the quarter and IUP led 28-3.

The Crimson Hawks hit a 26 yard field goal to open the fourth quarter scoring.  They closed out the scoring with a one yard touchdown run.

Gaither finished with 73 yards on four catches.  Both McDuffie and Jayden Emberton-Gaines finished with 13 total tackles.  McDuffie added three tackles for loss.

SHU will close out the season next Saturday at Lock Haven.
