Equestrian Leads the Region After Fall Season

The Seton Hill Women's Equestrian Team competed today in their last meet of the semester, November 13, 2021. Hosted by Duquesne University, the show took place at Fox Hollow Stables in Beaver Falls, PA, with twelve teams in attendance. The day opened with strong rides from co-captains Kasey Beres (junior) and Kaitlyn Krueger (senior), initiating a Seton Hill lead. Teammates Riley Miller (sophomore) and Taylor Holmes (junior) maintained, and a second place finish from Hannah Burgess (freshman) secured the high point championship for SHU. Individual placings are as follows:

Summer Black (senior)- 5th open flat, 3rd open fences
Kaitlyn Krueger (senior)- 2nd intermediate flat, 2nd open fences
Kasey Beres (junior)-  6th intermediate flat, 1st intermediate fences
Taylor Holmes (junior)- 3rd introductory w/t
Riley Miller (sophomore)- 1st limit flat, 5th limit fences
Hannah Burgess (freshman)- 2nd novice w/t/c

With her second place finish, co-captain Kate Kruger qualified for the IHSA Regionals Finals in the intermediate flat and pointed into the open flat division.
The team graduate assistant, Lexi Kupic, was also in attendance, winning both the flat and the fences section in the alumni division.

At the conclusion of our regular season shows this semester, Seton Hill is sitting as the High Point Champion Team with a 16-point lead over the current Reserve Champion Team, West Virginia University. California University of Pennsylvania, Allegheny College and University of Pittsburgh are presently sitting behind WVU.

As the winning team in Region 5, with four top finishes and two reserve finishes, Seton Hill was invited to compete in the Holiday Tournament of Champions. We will be competing against up to 18 other regional championship teams from across the county.
