This weekend, October 2nd & 3rd, 2021, the Seton Hill University Women's Equestrian Team competed at their home stables- their first regular season meet since March 2020. Nine intercollegiate teams, including West Virginia University and the University of Pittsburgh, traveled to Belle Vernon, PA to compete the previous two mornings. Seton Hill University quickly took the lead early Saturday with strong rides from seniors Kaitlyn Krueger and Summer Black. This lead was maintained by teammates Hannah Burgess (freshman) and Riley Miller (sophomore), and secured Sunday afternoon with wins from Taylor Holmes (junior) and Hannah Wheaton (freshman).
Individual Placings are as follows:

Summer Black (Senior): 2nd Open Flat, 2nd Intermediate Fences
Kaitlyn Krueger (Senior): 1st Intermediate Flat, 1st Intermediate Fences
Kasey Beres (Junior): 1st Limit Flat
Taylor Holmes (Junior): 1st Introductory W/T
Riley Miller (Sophomore): 5th Limit Flat, 4th Limit Fences
Hannah Burgess (Freshman): 5th Novice W/T/C
Hannah Wheaton (Freshman): 1st Pre-Novice W/T/C

After her two first place finishes in the intermediate flat and fences, Krueger was awarded Grand High Point Rider, with Black then being awarded Reserve High Point Rider. After her 2nd place finish in the intermediate fences, Black also qualified for the IHSA Regional Finals and moved into the open fences division.

Seton Hill successfully held their lead and was the overall champion of this show with 38 points, followed by Allegheny with 21 points, and a tie at 18 points for WVU and Bethany.

We are incredibly proud of how the entire team rode and composed themselves this weekend. We are looking forward to our second meet, taking place next weekend at California University of Pennsylvania, on October 10th, 2021.
