Friday, October 22nd will go down as a day to remember in Seton Hill Women's Cross Country history as the Griffins earned their first ever PSAC Individual Cross Country Champion. Senior
Sydney Wolf finished very strong over the final 300 meters to overtake an Edinboro runner and win the first ever PSAC Individual title in school history. Wolf's performance helped the women's team to a second place finish. The second place finish is the highest ever by a Seton Hill team at a PSAC Championship.
The 2021 PSAC Championships were held at Kutztown University on the Farm Course in Kutztown, PA.
Wolf's PSAC title is the first individual title won by a Griffin since Jeannie Bujdos won the WVIAC Individual Championship in 2012. Chelsea Poole was second overall in the 2016 race while Skye Christian finished third in the 2018 race. The women's team was third in each of the last two PSAC Championships.
Edinboro won the team championship with 61 team points, twelve better than the Griffins.
Wolf finished the 6K course in a time of 22:23.8 to win the title. She overtook Sheilah Cheruiyot of Edinboro in the final 300 meters to win the title.
Hannah Smrcka was the top finishing freshman in the event. She was eighth overall with a time of 23:16.6.
Isabelle McCabe was 12th overall with a time of 23:21.9.
Darby Roth was 22nd overall. She completed the course in 23:58.2. Rounding out the top five for the Griffins was
Alexis Cunningham in 30th place. She ran a time of 24:19.1.
Wolf, Smrcka and McCabe all earned first team All PSAC honors while Roth and Cunningham earned second team All PSAC honors.
Kate Pipilo was 39th overall (24:33.2).
Isabella Myles was 55th overall with a time of 24:51.4.
The team will take two weeks off before the NCAA Atlantic Regional. The regional will take place in Lock Haven on November 6th. The top three teams at the regional will advance to the D2 Championships.
