Seton Hill closed out their Florida trip on Saturday morning with a single nine inning contest against #6 Ashland at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale.
The Eagles scored twice in the top of the tenth inning to defeat the Griffins by a 4-2 score. SHU falls to 9-4 overall and finishes the Florida trip with a 5-2 record. Ashland improves to 7-1.
Ashland took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a two out RBI single. SHU tied the game in the bottom of the inning.
Parker Denny drew a walk.
Jack Oberdorf reached on an infield single and
Derek Orndorff reached on a bunt base hit to load the bases with no one out. The Griffins were able to only score one run after
Tommy Pellis drew a bases loaded walk.
Pellis gave the Griffins a 2-1 lead with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the sixth inning on the first pitch he saw. The Eagles tied the game at two with an RBI groundout in the top of the seventh inning.
Ashland scored two times in the top of the tenth inning without a hit. They used a hit batter, walk, wild pitch and sacrifice fly to take a 4-2 lead.
Pellis led the Griffins with 2 hits and 2 RBI.
The Griffins return to action next weekend when they host Saginaw Valley in a three game set beginning on Friday afternoon.
