Seton Hill continued their homestand with a home matchup with Gannon on Saturday afternoon in the McKenna Center as the team held their Pink Game.
On a day where she was honored pregame for scoring her 1,000th career point, junior
Cheyenne Trest scored a season high 23 points but it was not enough as Gannon outscored the Griffins 24-12 in the fourth quarter for a 69-54 win. SHU falls to 12-10 overall and 7-10 in the PSAC while Gannon improves to 18-5 overall and 14-3 in the PSAC.
Back to back baskets from
Lexi Civittolo gave SHU an early 5-3 lead. Five straight from
Cheyenne Trest put SHU in front 10-6 with 4:14 to play in the first quarter. Trest hit another three pointer as SHU led 15-11 with just under two minutes to play in the quarter. SHU took a 17-16 lead into the second quarter.
Over the first five minutes of the second quarter, the Knights outscored the Griffins 14-2 to build a 30-19 lead. The Knights took a 35-22 lead into the halftime break.
A three point play from Trest early in the second half trimmed the Knights lead to 35-29. Gannon built their lead back to ten but SHU made a run with a three pointer from
Tiana Stewart and layins from
Courtney Tomas and
Katie Nolan to cut the Gannon lead to 43-42 with 1:28 to play. Gannon scored the final basket of the quarter to take a 45-42 lead.
A basket from Civittolo and a three pointer from
Sydney Rabold cut the lead back to two at 49-47 with 6:47 to play. The Knights responded with a quick 7-0 run before another Rabold three cut the lead to 56-50 with 4:30 to play. The Knights were able to put the game away down the stretch at the free throw line.
Trest led the Griffins with a game high 23 points. Civittolo finished with 8 points. Nolan added 7.
SHU will host Salem in a non conference matchup on Tuesday at 5:30 PM.
