The Griffin wrestling team closed out their regular season with a dual match at West Liberty on Sunday afternoon.
Each team won five matches but the Hilltoppers were able to outpoint the Griffins for a 22-18 dual match win. SHU falls to 8-6 in dual matches this season while the Hilltoppers improve to 9-8 overall.
The match started at 149 pounds with the Hilltoppers earning an 11-9 win.
Logan McKoy evened the match at 3 with a 7-4 decision win at 157 pounds.
Seton Hill took a 9-6 lead after
Brandon Matthews won by fall at 174 pounds. SHU forfeited the 184 pound match to give West Liberty a 12-9 advantage midway thru the match.
Billy Bowlen and
Jake Shaffer won back to back matches by decision to put the Griffins back in front 15-12 with three matches remaining.
After falling by fall at 125 pounds,
Vincent Distefanis won an 8-3 decision at 133 pounds to tie the match at 18 with one matchup remaining. The Hilltoppers won the final match by a 14-4 score to secure the win.
The Griffins will be off until the NCAA Super Regionals in Erie on February 29th.
