Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Davis, Ezekwesili Lead Griffins to PSAC West Win

The Griffin men returned to the road when they traveled to Edinboro to meet the Fighting Scots on Wednesday evening.

Nathan Davis scored a career high and Chimaobi Ezekwesili added a double double as the Griffins defeat the Scots 86-75.

Seton Hill took an early 6-3 lead behind four points from Nathan Davis.  Just over four minutes into the contest, Drew Green hit a three pointer to extend the lead to 11-7.  Davis hit back to back three pointers to extend the SHU lead to 23-11 with twelve minutes remaining in the first half.

Davis drilled two more three pointers to push the lead to 31-14 with 10:41 to play in the first half.  Two free throws from Chimaobi Ezekwesili extended the SHU lead to 39-21 with just over six minutes to play in the first half.  Edinboro cut the lead to 41-29 before Tommy Sekunda finished an Anthony Karabatsos pass to put SHU in front 43-29 with 2:15 remaining before the half.  The Scots closed the half on a 8-0 run to cut the Griffins lead to 43-37 at the half.

SHU took advantage of an Edinboro technical at the end of the half when Davis hit two free throws and followed that with a layin to push the lead back to 47-37 seconds into the second half.  Davis followed that with an old fashioned three point play to take a 50-39 lead.

Edinboro trimmed the lead to 51-45 forcing the Griffins to take a timeout early in the second half.  Davis answered the Scot run with another three to push the lead back to 54-45 with 15 minutes remaining in the second.  Back to back layups from Ezekwesili and Marrek Paola extended the lead to 62-51 at the under twelve media timeout.

The Scots used a 7-2 run to cut the Griffins lead to 64-58 with under nine minutes to play in the half.  Karabatsos ended the run with back to back three pointers to extend the lead to 70-58 forcing a Scot timeout.  Karabatsos got a steal and bucket to push the lead to 79-65 with five minutes to go.

Davis led the Griffins with a season high 34 points. Ezekwesili finished with a double double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Karabatsos also reached double figures with 11 points.

SHU will return to action on Saturday when they host Pitt Johnstown with a 3 PM tip.
