Seton Hill continued their road trip in Erie this weekend with a matchup with Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon.

Each team won five matches but the Lakers got bonus points in two matches to just one for the Griffins in an 18-17 win over Seton Hill.  The Lakers improve to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in PSAC action while SHU drops to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in PSAC action.

Frank Bonura got the Griffins on board with a 13-7 decision win at 125 to put SHU in front 3-0.  The Lakers took the next two matches by decision to take a 6-3 lead over the Griffins after two matches.

Austin Shaw picked up bonus points with a 17-1 tech fall victory at 149 pounds to put SHU back in front by the score of 8-6.  The Lakers then responded with two bonus point wins in the next two matches.  With a tech fall and major decision, the Lakers led 15-8 with six matches completed.

Alec Shaw trimmed the Laker lead to 15-11 with a 7-3 decision at 174 pounds.  Joey Romjue followed with a 5-2 decision win at 184 pounds to cut the Lakers lead to 15-14 with two matches to go.

Mercyhurst took an 18-14 lead with a decision win at 197 pounds.  Jake Beistel was able to pick up a 4-3 decision win at 285 pounds but it was not enough as the Lakers won the dual by one team point.

The Griffins will return to action next Saturday evening when they host nationally ranked Pitt Johnstown.
