The women's soccer team closed out their opening weekend trip to West Virginia with a matchup in Charleston against the Golden Eagles.
Charleston scored the lone goal of the match just over five minutes into the second half for a 1-0 victory over the Griffins. SHU falls to 0-2 on the season.
In the first half, neither team was able to get on the scoreboard. The Griffins outshot the Golden Eagles by a 5-4 margin and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Elyza Pilatowski Herzing made two saves in the first half.
The Golden Eagles scored just over five minutes into the second half to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins. SHU battled in the second half, again outshooting Charleston 5-4 in the half but could just not find the back of the net. SHU forced four saves from UC in the second half.
Italia Biondi led the Griffins with five shots including three on goal. Pilatowski-Herzing finished with five saves.
SHU will open PSAC West play next Saturday when they host Gannon at 2:30 PM.
