Seton Hill continued preparation for PSAC play with a nonconference road matchup under the lights at Frostburg State on Wednesday evening.
SHU scored a first half goal and the Bobcats scored in the second half, sending the game to overtime. The Griffins then scored 8:15 into the first overtime period for a 2-1 win over the Bobcats.
SHU got on the scoreboard with just under eight minutes to play in the first quarter.
Wynnsome Gadson took a shot that got through the keeper's legs and
Nicole Susi pounced on the loose ball in front of the net and pushed it into the net for a 1-0 Griffin lead. SHU carried that 1-0 lead into the second quarter.
Neither team was able to find the back of the cage in the second quarter. SHU continued to lead 1-0 at the half. FSU led 6-4 in shots in the first half.
Frostburg scored a goal five minutes into the third quarter to tie the score at one. The teams headed to the fourth quarter tied at one.
The game headed to overtime tied at one after neither team scored in the fourth quarter.
In the first overtime period, both teams had plenty of scoring chances but the Griffins finally broke through 8:15 into the period. SHU won a penalty corner and used it to their advantage to score the game winner. Susi sent the ball in from the corner to
Colleen Roy who passed it to Gadson at the top of the arc, Gadson took a touch and shot it past the keeper for the game winner.
Gadson finished the contest with a goal and an assist.
Elizabeth Armbruster finished the game with eight saves for the win.
The Griffins will begin PSAC play on Saturday when they host #2 West Chester at 11 AM.
