QUAKERTOWN, PA. - The Seton Hill University softball team saw their season end at the hands of Gannon, 5-4, in the 2019 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Softball Tournament at Veterans Park in Quakertown, PA.
// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill ends the 2019 campaign with a record of 29-18.
• Their 29 wins marks the best win total since the team won 33 in the 2015 season.
// SHU STATS
• Alexis Vargas was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
• Devyn Terry was 1-for-3 with two RBI's.
• Christiana Skrabak went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored.
• Leighann Pettis was given the loss, throwing 1.1 innings in the circle. Pettis gave up two runs on five hits.
// HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Griffins jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with four runs in the first inning. WIth two outs, Christiana Skrabak doubled down the left field line to start the rally. Chelsea Rohan's single to right field scored Skrabak as Rohan advanced to second on the throw home. Alexis Vargas then singled down the left field line, scoring Rohan to give SHU a 2-0 advantage. Nichole McClendon's single to the pitcher on the next at-bat moved Vargas to third, and Devyn Terry's double to left center scored McClendon and Vargas to push the lead to 4-0. However, Gannon would manage three in the bottom half of the inning and two more in the second while holding the Griffins to just two more hits in the game.
