Women's Lax Season Ends in NCAA Tournament

Seton Hill made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament as they met top seeded West Chester in the first round of the Atlantic Regional on Friday afternoon.  The number five ranked Rams showed why they are ranked fifth in the country as they controlled the play and ended the Griffins season with a 20-10 victory.  SHU ends the season with an 11-9 record while the Rams improve to 18-2.  West Chester advances to the regional final where they will meet East Stroudsburg.

Jaclyn Frank answered a West Chester goal and tied the game at one with 27:43 to play in the opening half.  After the Rams took a 2-1 lead, Keagan Pontious tied the score at two with 22:53 to play.  The Rams scored the next two goals but Olivia Caragein trimmed the lead to one at 4-3 with 20:56 to play.  The Rams scored the next four goals to begin to take control of the contest.  Two women up goals from Pontious and Mackenzie Kilduff cut the lead to 8-5 with just over ten minutes to play.  An Alyssa Ference goal cut the lead to 9-6 but the Rams scored the final two goals of the half and led 12-6.

West Chester scored six of the first seven goals of the second half to pull away from the Griffins.  Pontious scored the lone SHU goal during that run.  Caragein trimmed the lead to ten at 18-8 with 19:15 left.  Pontious and Emily Megonnell closed out the scoring for the Griffins.
