Baseball Takes Two From Pitt-Johnstown

GREENSBURG, PA. -  The Seton Hill University baseball team swept a PSAC doubleheader against University of Pittsburg - Johnstown, 4-3 and 6-5, on Sunday at the Seton Hill University Baseball Complex.

// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill now stands with a record of 25-19 (14-10 PSAC) on the year.
• UPJ falls to 21-19 (9-13 PSAC)
Isaiah DiAndreth finished 3-for-4 on the day, with a homer and three RBI's.
Andrew Chuba finish 3-for-6 with an RBI.
Parker Denny and Tommy Pellis both totalled two RBI's.
Kenny Wells picked up the Game One win, pitching 1.2 innings with three K's. 
Caiden Wood was given the Game Two win, spending 1.0 innings on the mound with three K's.

// HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
•  Falling behind 1-0, Tommy Pellis reached first on an error by the UPJ first baseman, scoring Adam Bankovich and Chris Law to give SHU a 2-1 lead in the 4th Inning. UPJ regained the lead with a two-run 6th Inning, but a Parker Denny sac fly scored Chris Law from third in the Bottomg of the 6th and the Griffins knotted the game up at 3-3. In the Bottom of the 7th Inning, a pinch-hitting Isaiah DiAndreth scored Austin Braendel with a single down the right field line for the game-winner.

// HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
•  DiAndreth continued his success with a homer in the 2nd Inning of Game Two, and followed that up with an RBI single in the 4th Inning to give SHU a 2-0 lead. Kline's sacrifice bunt later in the inning put the Griffins up 3-0. The Griffins scored two more in the 5th when Austin Braendel scored off a fielding error by the Mountain Cat third baseman and a Parker Denny single scored Chris Law. The next inning, however, Pitt-Johnstown would plate five and tie the game. Andrew Chuba's single down the right field line scored Tommy Pellis for the go-ahead run in the 6th. UPJ did get two runners on in the 7th Inning, but Caiden Wood registered three strikeouts in a row to secure the victory.

// NEXT UP
•  SHU closes out the regular season with a four-game series against Indiana University of Pennsylvania next weekend. Games One and Two are set for Friday, May 3rd in Indiana, PA with Games Three and Four scheduled at home on Saturday.
