After dropping a PSAC West Doubleheader on Monday afternoon, the Griffins headed to Lock Haven for a non conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Griffins opened the doubleheader with a 6-2 win. SHU then rallied for four runs in the seventh inning of game two in an 8-6 win to complete the sweep. SHU is now 22-18 on the season.
The Griffins scored first in game one of the doubleheader. After one out in the second,
Brandon Kline tripled. He then scored on a balk to put the Griffins in front 1-0. Lock Haven scored twice in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.
SHU retook the lead in the fourth inning. With one out,
Nick Stotler doubled.
Colton Carney reached on an infield single and Stotler scored on an error to tie the score at two.
Adam Bankovich followed with a double to put the Griffins in front 3-2.
Seton Hill added two insurance runs in the sixth on a two RBI single by
Andrew Chuba. A pinch hit double from
Craig Lewis scored
Bayley Jamanis in the seventh for a 6-2 Griffin lead.
Neal McDermott earned the win in game one with four innings of work. He gave up two runs on just one hit while striking out four.
Caiden Wood threw three scoreless innings of relief to earn his first collegiate save. Chuba led the offense with two hits.
The Griffins took an early 1-0 lead in game two.
Nick Stotler reached on an error with one out.
Colton Carney reached on an infield single. Stotler then scored after two wild pitches. Lock Haven tied the score at one in the bottom of the inning.
SHU retook the lead in the fourth inning of game two.
Parker Denny doubled and scored when Carney homered to left field for a 3-1 SHU lead. LHU tied the score at three with wo runs in the bottom of the fourth.
A homer to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning gave Lock Haven a 4-3 lead. SHU took advantage of an error on a steal that allowed Denny to score at tie the game at four in the sixth. Lock Haven scored two unearned runs in the sixth to set up Denny's heroics in the seventh.
After one out in the seventh, Chuba singled.
Ryan Grieco walked and
Tommy Pellis reached on an infield single to load the bases. After the second out of the inning, Denny homered on a 3-1 pitch to put the Griffins in front 8-6.
Kenny Wells got a 1-2-3 seventh inning to earn the win.
Denny went 3-4 with a double and game winning grand slam. Carney added two hits including the two run home run.
The Griffins return to PSAC West play on Friday as they host Pitt Johnstown.
