Softball Splits Final Games in Florida

The Griffins completed their Florida spring break trip with a pair of games on Friday afternoon.  Seton Hill defeated Concordia St Paul 6-4 in the first game and then were defeated by Truman State 8-0 in five innings in game two.  SHU completes the Florida trip with a 7-3 record and is currently 9-3 overall.

Seton Hill took a quick 1-0 lead over Concordia St Paul on a leadoff bomb by Brooke Bower in the bottom of the first inning.  CSP tied the game at one in the top of the fourth.

The Golden Bears took a 2-1 lead with a run in the top of the fifth.  Seton Hill took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth.  After one out, Jenna Osikowicz doubled and Devyn Terry singled to put runners on first and second.  Pinch runner Trinity Cumo stole second.  Christiana Skrabak followed a strikeout with a three run bomb that gave the Griffins a 4-2 lead.

SHU added two more insurance runs in the sixth.  Abbie Thrower led off the inning with a double.  Both Alexis Vargas and Nichole McClendon reached on bunt singles to load the bases.  Bower singled in Thrower to make it 5-2.  Terry added a sacrifice fly to increase the lead to 6-2.

The Golden Bears got a two run homer in the seventh but Terry got a pop up to end the game.

Terry earned the win with another complete game.  She struck out 8.  Thrower led the offense with 3 hits.  Bower and Rohan each added two hits.

The final game was not one to write home about as Truman scored four in the first and added two more in the third and two more in the fifth for the 8-0 win.

Osikowicz had the lone hit for the Griffins in the loss.

SHU is scheduled to travel to West Liberty for a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.
