Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Season Ends in PSAC Quarterfinals

Seton Hill made their second trip to Indiana, PA in less than a week, this time for the PSAC Quarterfinal with the top seed Crimson Hawks.  The Griffins could not continue their magical run as they shot just 33% in the game and hit just 3-20 three pointers in a 67-53 loss to the Crimson Hawks.  SHU ends the season with a 19-11 record.

Both teams started off slowly from their field with a few turnovers as the Crimson Hawks took an early 8-4 lead at the first quarter media timeout.  SHU started the game 0-3 from three point land.  The Griffins went over five minutes between field goals and IUP took advantage to build a 16-8 lead with 1:51 left in the quarter.  IUP took a 17-10 lead into the second quarter.  The Griffins were just 4-13 from the floor and 0-5 from three in the quarter.  Trest and Marecic each had four in the quarter.

The second quarter started off slow for both teams and the Griffins then used a quick 8-1 run to trim the lead to 19-18 with 5:30 to play.  Hannah Laslo scored five points during the run.  A big play in the half happened near the buzzer as IUP fouled Marecic shooting a three.  Marecic hit all three free throws to cut the lead to 32-30 at the half.

The Griffins came out of the half and hit their first two three pointers and took a 38-36 lead on Lexi Civittolo's three with 7:40 to play in the quarter.  SHU went scoreless over the next three minutes and IUP took a 42-38 lead into the third quarter media timeout.  The Griffins went six and a half minutes between baskets until Tiana Stewart hit a three with 1:10 to play in the quarter cutting the IUP lead to 46-41.

Marecic hit the first basket of the quarter to cut the lead to 46-43 but the Crimson Hawks continued to build their lead and led 56-49 at the fourth quarter media timeout.  The Griffins could not close the gap down the stretch and IUP hit their free throws to close out the win.

Marecic led the Griffins with 16 points.  Laslo and Civittolo each finished with 9 points.  Katie Nolan finished with 9 points and 11 rebounds.
