Women's Lacrosse Slips At #9 East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA -  The Seton Hill University women's lacrosse team fell to #9 East Stroudsburg University, 13-9, Saturday afternoon at Whitenight Field in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opener for both squads.

// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill slips to just 2-4 on the year and 0-1 in the PSAC.
• ESU improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
• Seton Hill edged East Stroudsburg in shots (30-29) and shots on goal (24-21).
• The Warriors committed 21 turnovers compared to 19 for SHU.
• Seton Hill dominated the draw controls, winning 14 compared to just six for ESU.

// SHU LEADERS
Keagan Pontious finished with a team-high three (3) goals. Mackenzie Kilduff and Jaclyn Frank came away with two (2) goals apiece. Katelyn Cressman and Taylor Fox-Trudel chipped in a goal in the effort. Fox-Trudel paced SHU with three (3) assists. Kyleigh Hessian and Hailey Jacobs split time in net for SHU. Jacobs grabbed six saves while Hessian had two and picked up the loss.


// HOW IT HAPPENED
•  Jaclyn Frank scored the opening goal just over 15 seconds into the match to give SHU a 1-0 lead. ESU would score the next two, but goals from Taylor Fox-Trudel and Keagan Pontious regained gave SHU a 3-2 lead with 25:00 showing on the first half clock. The Warriors would net the next two, but the Griffins regained the lead with two of their own when Pointious and Frank scored back-to-back to make it 5-4 with 10:49 remaining in the first. That would be the last time SHU had the lead as ESU outscored SHU 9-1 over the remained of the first half and 15 minutes of the second on their way to the 13-9 home turf win.


// UP NEXT
• In the 67th minute, it was Italia Biondi's goal from a Melanie Renda assist the proved to be the game-winner for Seton Hill.  Biondi beat the keeper at the top of the box and then shot into a wide open net.

The Griffins return to action on Saturday when they head to Mansfield for another PSAC contest.
