Men's Hoops Drops Non Conference Matchup at Salem

Seton Hill returned to action after the Thanksgiving break with a road non conference matchup at Salem University on Sunday afternoon.

The Griffins trailed by just two points at the half but the Tigers outscored them 42-29 in the second half for an 86-71 victory over the Griffins.  SHU falls to 1-4 overall while Salem improves to 4-3.

Nathan Davis put the Griffins in front 3-0 by draining the first shot of the game.  Another three from Davis cut the Salem lead to 13-8 six minutes into the half.  The Tigers increased their lead to 22-9 with 11:35 to play in the half.  An 8-0 run from the Griffins cut the lead to 22-17 with 8:49 to play in the half.

Two free throws from Anthony Karabatsos and a layin from Davis and SHU trailed 24-21 with 7:28 to play.  Salem built their lead back to nine points at 40-31 with 3:26 to play before the half.  Back to back layups from Marrek Paola cut the lead back to five.  Five points from Jimmy Moon in the final two minutes of the half cut the Tigers lead to just two, 44-42, at the half.

Moon tied the contest at 44 with the first basket of the second half.  Over the next five minutes the Tigers outscored the Griffins 12-2 to retake a ten point lead.  Baskets from Davis and Tommy Sekunda cut the lead back to five, 58-53 with just over eleven minutes to play.  Moon's three pointer cut the lead back to single digits at 68-59 with 8:18 to play.

From that point on, the Tigers were able to extend their lead to as many as 21 points down the stretch with the Griffins not getting the lead back to single digits.

Moon posted his second double double of the season, finishing with a career high 25 points and 12 rebounds.  Davis also hit the 20 point plateau.  Sekunda also reached double figures with 11 points.

SHU will travel to Lock Haven next Saturday for another PSAC crossover matchup.
