After taking part in tournament action the past two weekends, the Griffin wrestling squad opened PSAC Dual Match competition with a match at Millersville on Saturday afternoon.
Seton Hill won eight of the ten matches, four of them by fall in route to a 37-6 victory over Millersville. SHU improves to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in PSAC play while Millersville falls to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in PSAC action.
The Griffins opened the dual at 125 pounds with a win by fall from
Alan Diltz at 2:26 of the first period as the Griffins took the early 6-0 lead.
Vincent Distefanis extended the Griffins lead to 10-0 with a 13-3 major decision victory at 133 pounds. After Millersville picked up a win at 141 pounds,
Austin Shaw won a hard fought match by the score of 9-8 at 149 pounds. Shaw earned the win with a riding point for the 9-8 win.
Millersville won their final match of the dual at 157 pounds with a sudden victory win.
SHU then closed out the match with five straight wins, three of them by fall.
Sean Hoover opened the run with a 5-3 decision win at 165 pounds. SHU then followed with three straight wins by fall.
Brandon Matthews won at 2:05 of the first period in the 174 pound match. Fifty seconds into the second period,
Joey Romjue earned a win by fall at 184 pounds.
Billy Bowlen followed with a win by fall at 2:20 at 197 pounds.
Jake Beistel won his match at 285 pounds by a 3-2 score.
SHU is off until December 14th and 15th at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana.
