Win Streak Hits Five After Senior Night Win

Seton Hill hosted Pitt Johnstown on Friday evening in a PSAC contest for Senior Night when before the match, the Griffins honored their five seniors.

All five seniors played a part in the four set win as the Griffins extended their winning streak to five matches with the win over UPJ.  The Griffins are now 18-9 overall and 13-5 in PSAC action.

Pitt Johnstown took an early 8-4 lead over the Griffins in the first set.  SHU answered back with six straight of their own with senior Jillian Livorse serving.  Senior Jessica Hanson and Viktoria Farian combined on two blocks and Livorse and Farian each had kills during the run.  UPJ tied the match at 12 before the Griffins scored three straight to take a lead they would not give up.  Senior Erin Parks had a kill and a block in the three point run.  With senior Danielle Nese serving, Livorse finished a pass from senior Taylor Sabol to put SHU in front 22-17.  Two kills from Farian gave SHU the first set win, 25-20.

The second set was back and forth throughout with neither team holding more than a three point lead.  Three kills from Livorse gave tied the set at 23, 24 and 25 but the Mountain Cats scored the final two points to even the match at one set each.

Seton Hill came out of the gates on fire in the third set as they took a 10-0 lead on the serving of Sabol.  She had two aces during the run and Parks, Farian and Hanson each had two kills.  A kill from Hanson would give SHU a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-12 third set win.

The fourth set was not much different than the third set as SHU used Sabol's serves to take an early 6-1 lead.  She had two more aces in that run.  Sabol and Parks got back to back kills as the Griffins extended their lead to 10-2.  Sabol and Farian got back to back kills to push the lead to 18-9.  Farian gave the Griffins set point and fittingly senior Livorse ended the match with a kill and SHU took the set 25-16.

Farian posted a double double of 16 kills and 16 digs.  Livorse finished with 14 kills and 8 digs.  Bobbi Rempe added 9 kills and 5 blocks.  Hanson added 8 kills and a team leading 6 blocks.  Parks finished with 7 kills and 9 digs.  Sabol had a great all around game with 45 assists, 11 digs, 6 kills, 4 aces and 3 blocks.

SHU will close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they host IUP at 1 PM.
