GREENSBURG - Elizabeth Armbruster (Pittsburgh, PA, Oakland Catholic) scored two goals and assisted on another, but the Griffins fell to Slippery Rock by a score of 4-3 in their home schedule finale Tuesday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill slips to a record of 1-14 overall and 0-9 in PSAC play.
• Zyah Newsome (Sharon Hill, PA, Academy Park) netted her first goal of the year to go along with Roy's first two.
• Elizabeth Armbruster (Pittsburgh, PA, Oakland Catholic) had five saves in the loss.
// HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a scoreless first quarter, both teams brought their shooting sticks to the second quarter. Rock's Abby McKay got the scoring started with a goal at the 16:20 mark in the second quarter, but Newsome's goal just over a minute later tied the game at one apiece. After a Kayla Ulrich goal at 18:46 got the visitors back on top, it was Colleen Roy's turn to tie the game at 23:14. Ulrich was again the one that broke the stalemate, this time in the 31st minute of the game followed by a Lauren Marks goal at 55:17 that increased the Rock lead to 4-2. But, the Griffins' weren't done yet as Roy would score her second of the game in the 58th minute to give SHU a last glimmer of hope. While the Rock was playing keep-away in their half of the field, SHU stole the ball and headed to goal with the mindset of forcing overtime. However, a Wynnsome Gadson shot attempt would be saved by the Rock goalkeeper, and Slippery Rock would escape with the 4-3 win.
