Seton Hill returned to PSAC play on Friday evening as they hosted Slippery Rock on the start of homecoming weekend on the hill. The Griffins made easy work of the Rock with a three game sweep. SHU is now 9-6 overall and 3-2 in PSAC action.
The first set was the tightest of all three sets as the Rock and Griffins were evenly matched over the first half of the set. WIth SHU leading 9-8 the Griffins began to pull away from the Rock and took a 19-13 lead after a kill from
Brynn Fleury and two from
Jillian Livorse. The Rock battled back to within 21-18 but kills from
Erin Parks and Livorse and two Rock errors gave SHU the set, 25-18.
The Griffins scored ten of the first twelve points of the second set and never looked back, taking a 2-0 lead over the Rock with a 25-11 second set win.
A Fleury ace and two
Leah Bisignani kills gave SHU the early 3-0 lead in the third set. With the score 7-5, the Griffins went on a 5-0 run to take control of the set. Bisignani, Parks and Livorse all had kills during the run. The Griffins closed out the set with kills from
Umari Stroud,
Sidney Chapman and Parks. SHU took the third set, 25-18.
Bisignani led the Griffins with 11 kills.
Viktoria Farian finished the match with 10. Livorse added 8.
Taylor Sabol had 19 assists while Fleury added 14.
Jessica Hanson added 3 blocks while
Hannah Moeller paced the Griffins with 17 digs.
SHU returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Edinboro.
