Seton Hill made the short trip to California (PA) on Sunday afternoon looking to rebound from a loss on Friday afternoon. SHU trailed the Vulcans 2-1 midway thru the first half but rallied to tie the match at halftime and then won the match 3-2 with a second half goal. SHU is now 6-2 overall and 5-2 in PSAC play while the Vulcans drop to 1-7 overall and 0-7 in PSAC play.
The Griffins got on the board first in the 14th minute.
Amanda Banfield took a free kick and sent it into the box where
Emily LoPresti brought it down and sent it towards the net where
Italia Biondi was there to deflect it into the net for the first goal of the game. It did not take the Vulcans long to tie it as they scored just 1:05 later to tie the match at one. Just over three minutes later, the Vulcans took the lead 2-1. The Vulcan lead did not last very long as less than six minutes later the Griffins tied the score at two. Biondi found
Melanie Renda at the top of the box and Renda beat the keeper to the bottom left corner of the net. The game went into the halftime break tied at two. SHU held a 13-5 advantage in shots in the first half and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
It took the Griffins less than ten minutes into the second half to take the lead.
Amy Lynch played a ball into the box that LoPresti was able to beat the keeper to and used her head to flick it over the keeper and into the net for the game winner. SHU held a 7-2 advantage in shots in the second half.
Jessica Neill finished with 3 saves in net.
SHU will continue PSAC play on Wednesday when they host Slippery Rock at 2 PM.
