Seton Hill opened PSAC play on Friday evening as they hosted Bloomsburg in the McKenna Center. The Huskies were playing their first ever PSAC match in the history of the program. SHU made sure it was not a night the Huskies would want to remember as the Griffins swept the visiting Huskies in three sets. SHU is now 6-3 on the season and 1-0 in PSAC play while the Huskies drop to 4-6 overall and 0-1 in PSAC play.
SHU built a 7-3 lead early in the first set after a kill from
Viktoria Farian, two aces from Farian and a kill from
Rachel Satira. The Huskies battled back and tied the set at 13. SHU then used a quick 3-0 run on another kill from Satira and a
Taylor Sabol ace to take an 18-14 lead. After the Huskies got back to within two,
Umari Stroud and
Erin Parks each had a kill and the duo teamed up for block to give SHU a 22-17 lead. Stroud ended the first set with a kill, giving SHU a 25-19 first set win.
The Huskies took a 10-6 lead to start the second set. The Griffins answered with four straight points to tie the set at 10. A kill from
Jessica Hanson, a block from
Lauren Nelson and
Jillian Livorse and a Farian kill spurred a 4-0 run to put the Griffins in front 17-13. The Huskies got to within two at 21-19 but four straight from the Griffins gave them a 2-0 lead with a 25-19 second set win.
Bloomsburg again took a very early lead in the third set before SHU ran off four points to take a 4-3 lead.
Terese Mihalcin started the run off with a kill. After SHU led 9-5 the Huskies scored six straight to take an 11-9 lead. Bloom would lead 16-15 for their final lead of the night. Back to back kills from Satira and Hanson gave SHU a 19-17 lead. Farian ended the match with her 16th kill to give SHU the 25-22 win.
Farian led the Griffins with 16 kills. She completed the double double with 11 digs. Viktoria also added 3 blocks and 2 aces. Livorse and Hanson each added 7 kills. Hanson also had 3 blocks.
Brynn Fleury finished with 21 assists while
Taylor Sabol added 18.
Hannah Moeller had a match high 17 digs.
SHU returns to action on Saturday at 2 PM when the Griffins host Lock Haven in another PSAC contest.
