The Griffins women's lacrosse team sent it's five seniors off in style with a 16-13 win on Senior Day in Greensburg on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins scored the final three goals for the 16-13 win over Millersville. SHU ends the season with a 5-11 record and a 4-8 mark in PSAC play.
Savannah Monroe opened her senior day by scoring a goal fourty seconds into the contest. Less than two minutes into the contest
Jaclyn Frank made it 2-0 for the Griffins. Millersville scored the next two goals to tie the game at two with 26:26 left in the half. The Griffins then went on a 6-0 run to take an 8-2 lead with just over twenty two minutes left in the half. SHU scored the six goals in just over three minutes.
Nellie Phillips extended the Griffins lead to 9-3 with 19:45 to play in the half. Four straight from Millersville trimmed the lead to 9-7. Monroe's goal with just over a minute to play in the half pushed the SHU lead to 11-8 at the half.
Frank scored with 25:19 to play in the second half but the Marauders scored five of the first six goals of the second half to take a 13-12 lead with 17:17 left. Frank tied the game at 13 with just over thirteen minutes to play. Two straight from
Courtney Pontious and one more from Frank closed out the SHU scoring.
Frank led the Griffins with an eight point day. She had 4 goals and 4 assists. Pontious added 3 goals and an assist. Monroe finished the day with 3 goals.
