Seton Hill kept Gannon off the scoreboard for the final twenty minutes of the first half to turn a 4-1 deficit into a 5-4 halftime lead. The Griffins rode that momentum to a 16-11 home win on Tuesday afternoon. SHU is now 3-10 overall and 2-7 in PSAC play.
Gannon scored the first three goals of the contest to take a 3-0 lead just over five minutes into the contest. With 20:38 to play in the half,
Courtney Pontious scored her first of five goals to cut the lead to 3-1. The Knights scored their final goal of the half with 20:02 to play to take a 4-1 lead. SHU then kept the Knights off the scoreboard while scoring four times to take a 5-4 halftime lead.
Brooke Lawrence scored the first goal for the Griffins then
Taylor Fox-Trudel scored a hat trick to give the Griffins the halftime lead.
Less than a minute into the second half,
Olivia Caragein pushed the Griffins lead to 6-4. Another goal from Caragein and two more from Pontious extended the lead to 9-6 with twenty minutes left in the game. Gannon cut the lead to 10-9 with 16:46 to play but two goals from
Jaclyn Frank and one from
Katelyn Cressman and
Mackenzie Kilduff gave SHU a 14-9 lead with seven minutes to play. Lawrence and Pontious scored the final two goals for the Griffins.
Pontious led the Griffins with 5 goals. Fox-Trudel added 3 goals and 2 assists. Cressman finished with a goal and 3 assists. Caragein, Frank and Lawrence each added two goals. Kilduff finished with a goal and an assist.
Hailey Jacobs ended the game with 12 saves.
The Griffins travel to Kutztown on Saturday for another PSAC contest.
