CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Seton Hill University men's basketball team used a big second half to run away with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup against California University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday night. The Griffins outscored the VulcansĀ 42-25 in the final period to come away with an 84-64 victory and sweep the season series. Although Seton Hill has swept the season series with Cal twice before - 2015 and 2016 - the win marks the largest margin of victory for either team since its inception.
Seton Hill and California now sit at 10-17 overall and 6-15 in the conference.
Trevor Blondin scored a game-high 29 points as Seton Hill shot 54.5% from the floor in the second half.Ā
Spencer CassonĀ registered 20 points while pulling down 12 rebounds and blocking six shots. Spencer is currently ranked 2nd in NCAA D2 in blocked shots and blocks per game.

Isaiah Lewis was the biggest offensive threat for the Vulcans scoring 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Philip Alexander had 13, and Jahmere HowzeĀ finished with 10 points.
Seton Hill grabbed an early lead, jumping out to a 6-4 advantage through the first two minutes of the contest. However, the VulcansĀ were not going to go away so easily. The first 20 minutes saw a total 14 lead changes with the two teams shooting near 50% from the field.Ā
The Griffins started the second half on a 9-2 run to take the game's first double-digit lead, 53-41, with 15:52 to go. The lead only grew from there as Seton Hill would go on a 19-10 to take a 72-51 advantage with 8:23 remaining. Casson had a big second half, scoring 12 of his 20 points while pulling down 9 of his 12 rebounds to lead SHU to the win.
For the game, Seton Hill controlled the paint by outscoring California 48-32 in the lane.Ā
Seton Hill will close out the 2017-18 season this Saturday when they take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania inside the Katherin Mabis McKenna Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
